  • 1 roll black licorice (or black fondant)

  • Yellow food coloring

  • Optional: Strawberry jam for filling

  • Pink food coloring (for border decorations)

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (for mixing with small amount of frosting)

  • Powdered sugar for dusting work surface


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cakes:

    • Bake two 8-inch round vanilla cakes according to your preferred recipe.

    • Allow to cool completely before decorating.

    • Level the tops of the cakes if needed.

  2. Make the Frosting:

    • Prepare Italian meringue frosting according to recipe.

    • Set aside a small portion and color it yellow for the nose.

    • If desired, color another small portion pink for decorative borders.

  3. Assemble the Base:

    • Place one cake layer on a cake board or serving plate.

    • If using, spread a thin layer of strawberry jam over the cake.

    • Add a layer of white frosting on top.

    • Place the second cake layer on top.

  4. Frost the Cake:

    • Apply a thin crumb coat of white frosting all over the cake.

    • Refrigerate for 20 minutes to set.

    • Apply a final coat of white frosting, smoothing the top and sides.
